Precast concrete step

  • Square or stooled end built into wall
  • Support wall
  • Cantilever step
  • Precast concrete cantilever steps built into wall forming stairs
  • Delivery of precast concrete stairs should be arranged so that they can be lifted , positioned and fixed direct from the delivery vehicle , thus avoiding double handling .
  • Precast components are usually designed for 2 conditions :-
  1. Lifting and transporting
  2. Final fixed condition
  • Flights are lifted from the correct lifting points , which may be in the form of loops or hooks projecting from or recessed into the concrete member .
  1. TO avoid damage due to unacceptable stresses during lifting .
  • Balustrade and handrail requirements , and the various methods of fixing , are as described for in-situ RC stairs .
  • ANy tread finish that is acceptable for an in-situ RC stair will also be suitable for the precast concrete stair .
