- Some designers fail to realise that their design can be too complex for site condition & can present problems of buildability .
- Defects often occur because of a lack of understanding of how a building is to be used . It is a designer's responsibility to find out the requirements of the building type .
- Economy should be achieved through measures that do not compromise on safety , performance & durability .
- Inadequacies & faults also result from the owner's & designer's responsibility to decide how much to provide within the available budget .
- The desginer should advise the owner of the effects upon maintenance costs of using certain materials or techniques , so that the owner can decide whether he prefers lower initial costs & high future mainteance costs .
