Frame structures

Framed structures can be classified into 3 types :

1. Building frame : column & beams for single & multi storey buildings . 
2. Shed frame ; columns & roof truss for single storey buildings . 
3. POortal or rigid frame : columns & horizontal or pitched beams for single storey buildings . 

Primary function of framed structures : 

• Carry safely all the loads imposed on a buildings . 
• Strength & stability . 
• Fire resistance .
