- A report is a written document produced after investigations to records the findings & recommend remedial actions .
- A good technical report must be simple , clear , concise & also must be technically accurate . It is also should be presented in a logical way & be written in a style that maintains continuity & easy to follow .
- A comprehensive report usually consists of the following :
- Title
- Project Brief ( location of building or structure , type & use , client name & name of an engineer or surveyor engaged ) .
- Synopsis ( brief summary of the report ) .
- List of content
- Introduction ( hisotry , subject matter , brief , scope & limit of work ) .
- Body of Report ( Background & history of the structure , details of inspections carried out , results & calculations & all details of repairs ) .
- Conclusions ( firm , reasoned judgements reached after careful evaluation of all the information obtained ) .
- Recommendations ( proposal for remedial work , regular maintenance & inspections to detect futher deterioration .
THe remedial work often chosen may belong to one of the three general catefories :
- Patching up
- Replacement of parts
- COmplete renewal .
