Design Deficiencies

• Design is the pre-planning process of knowledgeably selecting materials & determining their relative positions in a construction to produce a building with predictable performance .
• To ensure predictable performance , the designer must posses a good knowledge & understanding of materials will have with their environment in service .
• Many of the subsequent maintenance problems are directly attributed to decisions made at the design stage of the building .
